Carol Stream Barks Dog Festival

Bring your pooch to Armstrong Park for an ARF-ternoon of free, fun activities at the Carol Stream Park District's second annual dog festival.  There is so much going on you are sure to find something to amuse both you and your canine buddy! 

Here are just some of the activities taking place: Watch the Windy City K9 Disc Dogs in action, Cool Flyball & Dog Agility Demos, Pet Oasis & Splash Zone (where your pet can cool off), Pup Spa (grooming and nail trimming), Training clinics to help answer some of those questions we have, Sled Dogs, and a Canine Carnival!

You can also get training tips, health advice, learn pet CPR, and there will also be Canine Good Citizen assessments for just $3.00!  Put your pooch to the test!

The Pawfect Project will be collecting donations at CSBarks to help provide for the basic needs of health care, food and toys for rescued and abandoned dogs and cats in our community. Please bring all donations to the Pawfect Project Tent located next to the Carol Stream Park District Information Tent. All donations will receive a $5 gift card from Mapleberry Pancake House and countless other free product samples and goodies! Donations accepted include: Dry puppy food, Canned dog food, Dry dog food in bags, Flea collars, Toys, Treats, Bowls for food and water. Leashes, collars. Cat items are also accpeted.

Entry to CSBarks is free, fees apply to some activities and services. Friendly, leashed and vaccinated dogs (and their owners) are welcome.

Barkapaloosa (Patriot Park)

We had such a blast at this event last year, which is sponsored by WSHS (the Western Suburban Humane Society). This a pretty park with a pond and lots of green space. Last year, we had some of our supporters' families picnicking on the lawn behind our booth, which made it even more fun. (Kind of gives new meaning to the word “tailgating,” huh?) 
 
There’s a pet parade, pet fair/vendors, games, food, Frisbee dog demos, etc. This is probably one of our last outdoor events of the season (EEK!), so don’t miss it.

Spay and Stay Holiday Shopping Bazaar

Thanks to all who sent good wishes for a successful event!  Just so you know, we were warmly embraced by this wonderful organization who supports a very dedicated spay program for felines.  The commitment of this group is second to none!  Thank you, Spay and Stay, for allowing us to be a  part of your Holiday Bazaar festivities.  We had a wonderful time, bought lots of yummy treats and fun holiday gifts.

Elgin Voting on Proposed BSL March 10th!

Elgin is proposing BSL (breed specific legislation) for their town and the final vote is taking place on March 10th at 7:00pm at the Ctiy Council Meeting.   According to the proposed law, owners of “pit bulls” will be required to follow very strict provisions.  If you are able to attend, we would appreciate your respectful presence.

The council meeting is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, in the Heritage Ballroom at The Centre, 100 Symphony Way, Elgin

Raising Dough for Pit Bulls Pizza Party

Come stuff your face for pit bulls at Pizzeria Uno!

We're "Raising Dough for Pit Bulls" and celebrating the brief, beautiful life of our rescue pup, Addante. Here’s how it works:   

• You’ll need a donation ticket (pdf or jpg), which you can get here. Print it out and bring it along. 
• Go to Pizzeria Uno at any time on May 2. Bring friends! Eat! Drink! Order to go!  
• When you pay your tab, present your Donation Ticket &… 

That’s it! We get up to 20% of your tab.

This is an all-day fundraiser, so you can have a private meal anytime, or come party with the rescue. Some Midwest Rescue regulars will be gathering around 5 p.m.  Let us know if you’re joining us & we’ll save a place for you! Vernon Township's 2nd Annual Community Garage Sale

How is this for different?  Midwest Rescue is participating in Vernon Township's 2nd Annual Community Garage Sale and we're excited as all get-go!  We already have a great selection of plants that we will be selling, thanks to a committed MWR Volunteer, and could use your help with the rest.  If you have "gently used" items that are in good shape and of which you would like to donate, please e-mail us at info@midwestrescue.org and we will give you more detailed information.  As usual, all proceeds go directly to the care of our fuzzy faced rescue pups!

Adoption Day at Soggy Paws - Uptown

Come out and get a complimentary hug from Leo, our little lovebug, who is looking for his forever home!  Not only is Soggy Paws a fun place to scrub your pet, but a great place to buy neat toys, fancy and sporty collars and leashes, and healthy pet food and treats.  Leo gives Soggy Paws a bubbly "Bark of Approval"!

Cantigny Dog Days

Scenic, historic Cantigny Park is paradise for dog lovers, nature lovers and, yes, dogs. We had a blast at Dog Days last year. And we will forever adore this event because one of our pups, Jersey, found her forever family here. Maybe we'll have a repeat this year?   

Come bring us some luck! Volunteer for a few  hours, or leash up your BFF (Best Furry Friend) and enjoy the day.  There's lots of fun stuff including agility demos, pet boutiques, and a number of rescues and shelters. And this is a great opportunity to pick up some Midwest Rescue tanks and tees, car magnets, tinkle bells, and Corvette raffle tickets.
